The Ranch Studio
Located on a 27 acre ranch, three miles from downtown San Marcos, Marian works with a
wide variety of natural outdoor shooting sites as well as in a country style cedar home
that houses the reception area, studio camera room, office, and production facility.
The creativity and artistry are infinite. Today, Marian specializes in portraiture of
children and formal portraits of brides, as well as wedding and family photography.
The studio is equipped with the finest professional equipment available today.
The studio is open by appointment only.
Outdoor Environmental Portraits
The ranch location provides Marian with a wide variety of Texas Hill Country backgrounds
in which she poses her subjects. Each spring, she uses acres of Texas Bluebonnets as
backgrounds. When requested, Phoenix, the studio quarter horse, can be part of the
portrait. A portrait session can consist of both studio portraits and outdoor casuals.
Marian will also travel to other locations including the San Marcos River, the University,
and City Park.
The Old Mill Studio
Marian Oles has full access to using the fully equipped studio located in The Old Mill
at 101 Uhland. However, this studio is primarily used for demonstration and for training
photographers who are acquiring a Scene Machine virtual background system and is therefore
seldom used for every day portraiture.
The Beach
Marian also works in the sand dunes and by the sea at her Port Aransas Texas location
where she does family and personal portraiture by appointment. Although her Port Aransas
location has a studio set up with a Scene Machine, most of her work at the beach is done
outdoors, conditions permitting.
The Train
There is something really special about railroad trains for children. Imagine the
excitement that comes with being photographed in, on and around a real train! Marian Oles
Photography has access to a real train, parked on a siding next to The Old Mill at
101 Uhland in San Marcos. Imagine the possibilities for photographing your children
and family in and around a real antique caboose, a box car, or one of several streamlined
stainless steel passenger cars including a Pullman car named “The Regal Creek” that once
ran from Chicago to Los Angeles on the world famous Sante Fe Super Chief! The train is
parked just 50 feet from the main north-south Union Pacific tracks (there is a fence
between) where 25 to 30 freight trains and two Amtrak trains (San Antonio to Chicago)
pass by each day, adding to the realism and excitement of a Marian Oles railroad sitting.
It’s an experience no child will ever forget.
